Cookies and tracking.

This website: none

keporia.ca sets no cookies. It also stores nothing in your browser's local storage, loads no analytics, no advertising code, no social-media buttons and no third-party fonts or scripts. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to. If your browser's cookie list shows a keporia.ca entry, something other than us put it there — a browser extension, most likely.

The loyalty-card service: one, and only if you join

card.keporia.ca — the address a shop's sign-up QR code opens — sets a single cookie only when you add a loyalty card:

NameWhat it doesLastsType
kep_<shop>A random token that lets the sign-up page recognise the card you already have at that shop, so a second scan shows your card instead of making a duplicate, and so the counter code can stamp your card and nobody else's.2 yearsStrictly necessary. Not readable by scripts, only sent over HTTPS, never sent to other sites.

It contains no name, no member number and nothing that identifies you to anyone else. There is one per shop you join. Deleting it does not delete your card — the card lives in your wallet — it only means the sign-up page will not recognise you until you add the card again from your wallet's link.

A shop owner who signs in to their own dashboard gets a second cookie (kep_owner_<shop>, 30 days) that keeps them signed in. Nobody else receives it.

Why there is no consent banner

Under Canadian law consent is implied for cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you asked for, and that is the only kind we set. We show no banner because a banner for a cookie you cannot refuse without breaking the thing you clicked on would be theatre. If we ever add anything that is not strictly necessary — analytics, for example — this page will say so first and you will be asked.

Apple Wallet and Google Wallet

Once a card is in your wallet, Apple or Google run the wallet. What they store about you and how they handle the card is governed by Apple's privacy policy and Google's privacy policy, not by us. We only ever see the card's own contents: a first name, a member number and a stamp count.

Turning things off

  • Offers from a shop through its card: turn off notifications for the card in your phone's Wallet settings, or remove the card.
  • The recognition cookie: clear cookies for card.keporia.ca in your browser. Nothing breaks except recognition.
  • Everything about you: see Your rights in the privacy policy — one email and the record is erased.
